Salary: $100,000 - $145,000

Job Overview:
As an Electronics and Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing next-generation control systems for new machines and retrofitting existing ones. Your expertise will contribute to creating high-performance control systems that enhance communication, reliability, and safety in our equipment. You will work with PLCs, industrial PCs, and advanced programming languages, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and engaging in occasional travel.
Responsibilities:

• Control System Development:
o Design and integrate control systems for new machines and existing equipment, with a focus on PLCs, industrial PCs (IPCs), and embedded systems.
o Use modern programming languages like RUST to develop high-performance control software, ensuring integration with advanced communication protocols.
o Contribute to PCB design (using tools like Altium) and embedded hardware development, including microcontroller programming.
o Create intuitive GUIs for machine operation, offering real-time data feedback and control interfaces.
• System Integration & Debugging:
o Lead the integration of intermediary programs for seamless communication between control devices (PLCs, IPCs, motion controllers, etc.).
o Troubleshoot control system issues in collaboration with software and hardware teams to optimize performance and reliability.
o Integrate sensors and motion control systems into existing setups for enhanced machine safety and performance.
• Embedded System & Hardware Design:
o Design and program microcontroller-based embedded systems for machine control applications, ensuring integration with broader control architecture.
o Develop embedded software for real-time control, leveraging hardware design and programming expertise.
• Collaboration & Documentation:
o Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, production) to ensure smooth integration of control systems throughout design and implementation phases.
o Maintain detailed documentation of control system architecture, software, and hardware designs to ensure traceability.
o Assist in developing training materials and operator manuals for new and upgraded equipment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in control system development, embedded hardware design, and programming.
• Proficiency in RUST or similar modern programming languages, with experience in PLC systems and IPCs.
• Expertise in PCB design (Altium or similar), embedded hardware design, and microcontroller programming.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet) and system integration.
• Ability to thrive in a manufacturing environment, with willingness to travel up to 10% and lift up to 50 lbs.
